DAY 1

Moscow

 

"Welcome to Russia!" or "S priezdom!" Our friendly and courteous driver will be there to meet you upon your arrival to Moscow. While the transfer to your accommodation you will have a first glimpse on the Gold-Domed Capital of Russia.

 

You will have some time to check-in at the hotel, refresh yourself and take some rest before getting on the tour!

GUIDED WALKING CITY TOUR

 

This walking guided city tour shows you around the city center of Moscow. During this excursion you’ll get a good account of the history, architecture and main landmarks of the city. 

 

The tour starts at Tverskaya Street—one of the main and most exciting of all streets in Moscow. It leads to the heart of the city—the Kremlin and Red Square. You will see the Red Square with the History Museum, the Trading Arcades of GUM, Lenin’s Mausoleum and, of course, the symbol of Moscow — St. Basil’s cathedral. Enjoying the best panoramic views of the Kremlin, you will cross the river and come to the lovely park in the Bolotnaya (Swamp) Square (although it bears no resemblance to a swamp anymore).Then you will take a stroll to the symbol of the Stalin's rule—"The House on the Embankment", a grey monster with ill fame. It was the residence of the Soviet “aristocracy”. From the Bolshoy Kamenny (Big Stone) Bridge, you will have a splendid view of Christ the Savior Cathedral, which has an extremely colorful history. Here, you will be able to take panoramic pictures of the Kremlin’s Cathedrals and the Grand Kremlin Palace. Then you will have the opportunity to relax in the Alexander Garden and watch the change of guards at the Tomb of Unknown Soldier.

 

At the end of the tour, the guide will walk you back to the hotel.  

DAY 2

GUIDED TOUR TO THE TSARITSYNO AND KOLOMENSKOYE ESTATES.

 

 This guided tour will show you around Tsaritsyno and Kolomenskoe.Tsaritsyno estate is located in the southern part of Moscow, in the park of the same name. Its history begins from 16th century. During the tour, you will gain an insight into the history of construction and the architecture of this countryside residence of Catherine the Great.  You will also learn about the complicated relationship between the Empress and architect Vasily Bazhenov, and will have an opportunity to admire exotic flowers. The Tsaritsyno estate is a unique example of an imperial summer house with musical fountains, picturesque landscapes and timeless atmosphere.

 

Afterwards, you will visit Kolomenskoe estate. “Kolomenskoye” is located over the steep banks of the River Moscow and surrounded by a picturesque landscape. It is a unique place of archaeological excavation. It is also called “a museum of wooden architecture in the open air”. During the tour you will see The Ascention Church that is a pearl of Russian tent-shaped architecture and a wooden palace model with 2000 windows and 300 rooms which can be called “the 8th miracle of the world”.

 

At the end of the tour, the driver will take you back to the hotel.

GUIDED KREMLIN TOUR WITH VISIT TO THE ARMORY CHAMBER

 

Kremlin nowadays is the official residence of the President of Russian Federation. You will stroll along the Kremlin walls and see the Cathedral Square and other landmarks. On the territory of the Kremlin you will also see the Assumption Cathedral and the Armory Chamber.The Assumption cathedral is famous for its magnificent ensemble of monumental paintings and one of the largest Russian collections of icons.As for the Armory Chamber – it is a world-famous treasure-house that occupies a part of the Grand Kremlin Palace’s complex. The museum houses precious items that have been preserved for centuries in the tsars’ treasury and the Patriarch’s vestry. Some of the exhibits were made in the Kremlin’s workshops, others were accepted as ambassadorial gifts. The State Armory also presents more than four thousands items of applied art of Russia, European and Eastern countries of the 4th -early 20th centuries.You will have some free time for lunch before continuing the sightseeing programme.

GUIDED OLD MOSCOW & METRO TOUR

 

You will visit of the first line of the Moscow metro. It was opened in 1935 and connected 13 stations. Nowadays, Moscow metro has about 150 stations and it is considered to be one of the most beautiful undergrounds in the world. You will be stopping and getting off at its most beautiful stations.As part of the tour you will take a walk down the Old Arbat, a picturesque pedestrian street where you can stop to watch one of the many street entertainers and buy souvenirs. In the 18th century, the Arbat came to be regarded by the Russian nobility as the most prestigious residential area in Moscow. Nowadays, the Old Arbat is one of Moscow’s most popular tourist areas and home to an eclectic range of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.

 

After the tour, our driver will take you to the Train Station. Overnight Train to KAZAN.

 

DAY 4

Kazan

 

In the morning you will arrive to KAZAN - capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, which is located in central Russia, about 797 km away from Moscow to the east. The city is extremely picturesque and offers many well-preserved historical buildings, minarets, and churches. Because of its historical and religious influences Kazan represents a unique cultural treasury.Upon arrival you will be met by our driver and transferred to your hotel. Check-in at the hotel. 

GUIDED WALKING CITY TOUR WITH VISIT TO THE KREMLIN

 

Your tour begins when our guide escorts you from your hotel to the historical centre of the city. As you make your journey through Kazan's millennial past, along the historical streets of Kazan, where the «east meets west», you can discover some of the city’s incredible historic monuments, and experience Kazan as the city where ‘All Worlds Come Together’. Your guide will lead you to one of the first universities in Russia, Kazan State University, then you will continue to the old Tatar Settlement to explore its many cathedrals and mosques, including the first Mosque of Mardjany.Your excursion would not be complete without a tour of the Kazan Kremlin, the heart of the city. Before your tour concludes, you will walk along the embankment of the Kazanka River and Kaban Lake, and admire the awe-inspiring views surrounding Kazan. At the end of the tour, the guide will walk you back to the hotel.  

 

DAY 5 

Ekaterinburg

 

Check-out. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and get ready for the day! Our driver will meet you at the reception of the hotel with the sign with your name on it.  Transfer to the Train Station. Departure for Ekaterinburg.

 

Closer to the evening you will arrive to Ekaterinburg situated on the boundary between Europe and Asia. You will be met by our guide driver.

GUIDED CITY TOUR

 

During this excursion you will be introduced to the modern city of Ekaterinburg. You will see its large industrial and cultural background. You will also see city’s many landmarks and hear the stories that connect these places within the times of 18-20 centuries. You will visit Voznesensky Hill and admire one of the most beautiful buildings of the city - a palace of merchants Rastorguevy - Haritonovy.

 

After the tour, our driver will take you to your accommodation. Check-in at the hotel. 

DAY 6

TOUR to the village KOPTELOVO "HOW THEY LIVED BEFORE IN RUSSIA"

 

The path of our guests lies in the old Ural village of Koptelovo, founded in the 17th century and preserving its original way of life. In the old Russian hut, built without a single nail, are preserved a real Russian stove, a wooden cradle (cradle) for a child, samovars, fishing tacks, sleighs and much more.Along the way there will be a visit to the equestrian courtyard, sleigh rides through the village, Ural treats shangi, prepared according to the recipes of our grandmothers. Old Ural songs will not leave you indifferent.

 

DAY 7

GUIDED TOUR to EUROPE & ASIA BORDER

 

In Russia it's the Urals - the mountain range serves as the official dividing line between the Russian West and the Russian East. The dividing line shoots right through Yekaterinburg and is marked by an obelisk. This is probably a cultural crime to be in Yekaterinburg and not to see The Border Marker. During the excursion you will get acquainted with the nature of Urals Mountains, history of the Great Siberian (Moscow) Road and that of settlements located on it. You will also learn why the Urals symbolise the dividing line between the East and the West.

GUIDED TOUR  "THE LAST DAYS OF THE ROMANOVS"

 

Here, in Ekaterinburg, the family of Russian emperor Nikolay the 2nd spent the last days of their life. You will hear about the history of the Romanov Dynasty. You will visit the Memorial Cathedral on  the Blood which was built on the place of execution of the last tsar Nikolay II and his family.The guide will show   you the unique orthodox monastery - Ganina Yama, constructed on the place of the initial burial place of imperial remains. Here you will also get an opportunity to see seven wooden churches surrounded with a picturesque birch-pine forest. 

 

After the tour, our driver will take you to the Train Station. Train to Novosibirsk. 

 

DAY 8

 

On train. You will be arriving at Novosibirsk closer to midnight. Novosibirsk lies along the Ob River in the West Siberian Plain. It is the 4th largest city of Russia.

 

The city is famous for its Akademgorodok where one can find more than 15 universities, 43 institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and over 100 other research institutions of nearly all research branches. 

 

Upon arrival you will be met by our driver. While transfer to your accommodation you will have a first glimpse of the city. Check-in at the hotel. 

DAY 9

Novosibirsk

GUIDED TOUR TO AKADEMGORODOK AND CITY TOUR

 

The scientific town Akademgorodok, located 30 km away from Novosibirsk, is the only scientific town in the world where all the branches of sciences are represented. For this reason, it is sometimes called  the “Scientific Vatican” by Western media. You can enter Akademgorodok via Lavrentiev Prospekt Avenue that is marked as the “world's most scientific street" by the Guinness Book of World Records. You can see the Ob river reservoir, called the Ob Sea over here. You can know more from visiting the Open- Air Train Museum with a huge collection of Soviet locomotives and railway carriages.Upon return to Novosibirsk, enjoy the city tour, covering all the main attractions of the city. During this city tour you will see the historical part of Novosibirsk and its main landmarks. There will be a stop made on the Lenin Square near the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, one of the most beautiful and famous buildings of the city. Then you will have a possibility to visit one of the Novosibirsk’s museums of your choice (Museum of Siberian Beresta, Local Lore and History museum or Novosibirsk Art Gallery).  After the tour you will have some free time for rest and dinner.Late check-out from the hotel.

 

Our driver will take you to the Train Station. Train to Ulan-Bator. 

 

DAY 10-11

 

On train. 

 

It takes almost 50 hours from Novosibirsk to get to Ulan-Bator. 

 

The train will run along the lake shore and you will enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding nature. By the lunch time you will arrive to Naushki - the closest Russian town located near the border with Mongolia. Please note you will make the border crossing into Mongolia with the usual halt for formalities.  

DAY 12

 

Ulan-Bator 

 

Our friendly driver will be there to meet you upon your arrival to Ulan-Bator early in the morning. While the transfer to your accommodation you will take a first view of the Capital of Mongolia.

 

You will have a chance to have breakfast before setting off on the tour!  

GUIDED CITY TOUR with visit to GANDAN MONASTERY

 

During this city tour the guide will show you around the city of Ulan-Bator and visit the most popular sightseeing spots: Gandan Monastery ("Great Place of Complete Joy")- a Tibetan-style monastery in the Mongolian capital of Ulan-Bator that has been restored and revitalized since 1990. It currently has over 150 monks in residence. It features a 26.5-meter-high statue of Migjid Janraisig, a Buddhist bodhisattva also known as Avalokitesvara.  Winter Palace - that is a museum now, - is the only one palace left from originally 4 residences of the eighth Jebtsundamba Khutughtu, who was later proclaimed Bogd Khan, or emperor of Mongolia. The complex includes six temples. On display are many of the Bogd Khan's possessions, such as his throne and bed, his collection of art and stuffed animals, his ornate ceremonial ger, and a pair of ceremonial boots given to the Khan by Russian Tsar Nicholas. 

 

Your next stop will be Zaisan Memorial located south of Ulan-Batar that honors Soviet soldiers killed in World War II. Located on a hill, the memorial features a circular memorial painting that depicts scenes of friendship between the peoples of the USSR and Mongolia. After driving to the uppermost parking lot on the hill, visitors must make a climb of three hundred steps before reaching the monument and mural. Those who make the climb are rewarded with a panoramic view of the entire city of Ulan- Bator in the valley below, as well as the Tuul River flowing past the city. 

 

And at last, you will visit the famous Sukhbaatar square that was named after and features an equestrian statue of Damdin Sükhbaatar, one of the leaders of Mongolia's 1921 revolution. The statue is located directly in front of the Saaral Ordon (Government Palace).

 

 At the end of the tour, the guide and driver will take you back to the hotel for check-in.  

DAY 13-14

TRIP TO TERELJ NATIONAL PARK

 

Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is one of the national parks of Mongolia.

 

The Terelj tourist zone has a number of "tourist camps". The Terelj settlement is located in the valley of the Terelj River, approximately 66 km from the Ulan-Bator city center. A small southern portion of the park is developed for tourists, with restaurants, souvenir shops, horses and camels for rent, and tourist ger camps. However, most of the park is undeveloped and difficult to access. Attractions include Khagiin Khar Lake, a 20m deep glacial lake 80 km upstream from the tourist camps, and Yestii Hot Water Springs, natural hot springs 18 km further upstream. The park also has a Buddhist monastery that is open to visitors. Park wildlife includes brown bears and over 250 species of birds. The Tuul River flows through the park. The park has many rock formations for rock climbers, and includes two famous formations named for things they resemble. The guide will take you to one of them – the famous Turtle Rock. You will see the 100 Monks Cave - where buddhist monks hid from oppression, some say that about 100 monks hid here, - and Terelj Monastery. 

 

You will have a Mongolian BBQ in the evening. You can arrange a horse ride for extra pay. Overnight stays in ger camp.

DAY 15

 

Transfer back to Ulan-Bator early in the morning.   Transfer to the airport/train station. Now, you'll say goodbye to Ulan-Bator.
