DAY 1
Upon your arrival to St Petersburg you will be met by our friendly and courteous driver. While the transfer to your accommodation you will have a first glimpse of the so-called Venice of the North & Cultural Capital of Russia. CITY TOUR with visit to PETER & PAUL'S FORTRESS
During this guided city tour you will be walking through the city center of St. Petersburg. During this excursion you'll get an excellent sight of the history, architecture and main landmarks of the city.First, walk along Nevsky Prospect (main avenue of the city). Cross the Anichkov Bridge famous for its four equestrian statues. Walk along the Fontanka river embankment and have a short stop to see the statue of “Chizhik Pyzhik” and hear the story of this curious little bird. Pass the Mikhailovsky (Engineering) Castle – a former residence of the Emperor Paul I. Walk through Mikhailovsky garden towards The Church of the Saviour on the Spilt Blood (the monument of Russian Orthodox architecture built on the spot where the tsar Alexander II was assassinated). Walk across Konushennaya Square, go along the Moika river embankment and all the way to the Palace Square with its Triumphal Arch and the Winter Palace facing each other and the Alexander Column in the middle. Walk along Nevsky and see the Stroganov palace, Kazan Cathedral, Gostiny Dvor, Church of the Savior on the Spilled Blood and other places of interest. Crossing the bridge, you'll have one longer stop for visiting the Peter & Paul's Fortress. Our guide will show you around the Peter-and-Paul Fortress with its St. Peter and Paul's Cathedral. The Peter and Paul fortress, a major tourist attraction in St. Petersburg, stands out as the emblem of the city. The cathedral is the final resting place of many tsars, the last being Nicholas II and his family. The fortress is known to be the first building of St. Petersburg. Its corner-stone was laid by the emperor Peter the Great himself. You will also see the grim cells of what used to be the main political prison of tsarist regime and can be called “Russian Bastilles”. You will have an opportunity to take pictures from the granite Commanders’ pier – one of the most impressive places on the banks of the Neva River - a realm of water and stone. In the evening do not miss the opportunity to enjoy a music festival performance or opera and ballet upon your choice at world famous St Petersburg music halls and theatres. Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and and check out. Transfer to the Railway Station for early morning train to Veliky Novgorod. Arrival to Veliky Novgorod. Our guide will meet you at the railway station with the sign with your name on it. GUIDED TOUR to VELIKY NOVGOROD
The sightseeing tour begins with the Kremlin, at the heart of the town. There you will visit the famous St. Sophia Cathedral of the 11-th century with its miracle making icon. Cross the Volkhov by a footbridge and you will get to the right bank of the river and find yourself on the grounds of Yaroslav's Court and the old Marketplace. Here you will take a trip into medieval ages and be introduced to the architectural monuments of the 12th - 18th cc. Transfer to the Train station Now, you'll say goodbye to Veliky Novgorod.
